How do I build my business with email marketing?

I build my business with email marketing. And every time I do so, I think about the good old days when mailboxes were filled with messages.

Then I am reminded about the importance of good content.
Today I’m going to focus on how important it is to have the right content.
It’s no secret that people are more likely to act upon content than something as simple as a promotional email. That’s why some businesses still have an email list. While that’s no longer considered a core value, it’s not a bad way to keep in touch with people or send them occasional special offers.
But do you have the right content?
A friend of mine is an excellent business advisor, especially for content. I’m learning and sharing a lot of his content with my own clients and prospects.
So today I would like to share what he shared about content.
Content is the Fuel for an Email Marketing Program
If you run a successful email marketing program, you have to have content that will stand out and make people stay on your email list.
As an example, I recently saw an email from an online company with about 4,000 subscribers. It had some really impressive statistics and great content about the benefits of their product. They were offering something for $14.95 and the email itself was only 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, so it was small.
What made this email special was that the person making the email took the time to share their own story about how their life had changed when they started using their product. It gave the email a human face.
So, when you build your email marketing list be sure to have good content about how your product or service will make a difference in people’s lives. This will be more likely to convert your subscribers into buyers and help you build your list.
I think of content in the same way I think of SEO and it’s a good practice. Content is what helps an email program succeed. If you have a good content plan for your email program it will help build trust with your audience. If you don’t, you may get a little traction, but you won’t stay on their list because they don’t feel your service or product is worth the effort to provide information to them. You can’t do that if you don’t have content for your marketing program. Content should be included for SEO and email marketing in the same way. Without it, you can have the latest, greatest email marketing program, but if people aren’t seeing your message or what you’re offering to them, you’re not going to get the traction you need. There are so many people who run email marketing campaigns and they’re just trying to get the word out and get the clicks through. That’s not what I want to do with my emails because I want people to get excited and to feel like this email is an extension of who they are. If it’s not a reflection of who they are and how they’ve gone to get their hair or clothes or home made from scratch, they’re not going to care. That’s why the content matters. But it’s also important that it come in the right kind of form. In other words, it shouldn’t be long winded and rambling. I would hate for somebody to feel like they’re clicking through this email and they’re going to get lost. There needs to be some structure to it and some meat to the bones.

“Content is the Fuel for an Email Marketing Program.” Wow! I really like the content part of the content marketing. The “fuel” part, I’m not so fond of. I know in my line of business; the salespeople would love to have all of the business in the “fuel” bucket!
I think the key is to make sure your content is of good quality and high-enough quality that people will like it. You don’t want to put out something that will scare people away or it will be more like a waste of your time than something they like.
You have to remember that people are getting hundreds of emails and only a few make it through to their inbox. You need something that will get their attention and not be just a generic, long email that they are just reading so they can get on with their day. You need to make it easy for them to read and stay on your email list.
If your website doesn’t have all of the elements that it needs to rank well and it’s only a part of the package, you’re losing out on a lot of business. It also doesn’t look right, and it could be sending the wrong message to prospective clients and customers.
You have to remember that people are getting hundreds of emails and only a few make it through to their inbox. You need something that will get their attention and not be just a generic, long email that they are just reading so they can get on with their day. But I don’t think it’s fair to say that the only emails that get through are short ones. I know that I get many emails from newsletters, blogs and various companies that are long and not so helpful to me. That being said, short isn’t always better. If you’re writing an email in your blog, be sure to put in your own words and write your own style. Keep it short and to the point and you should be fine.
You have to make sure that the content is of good quality. I understand that there are so many people who are just trying to get through the mountain of emails but, if you’re able to provide good content that will help your business and maybe give something to the person that you’re writing to, you will get through. I think that you could write that article on content and just do that. That could really help some people get through.
The point is content being of good quality is especially important. If the content doesn’t meet these criteria, you will lose the ability to get your content in front of your target audience. Even if the email subject line is enticing, if the content is bad, the email will just go into the trash bin.
In the digital world, everyone is so worried about having good content that it is a real challenge to attract your target audience.
Content, especially in an email program, is the foundation for everything. The business should only exist if people feel like they are receiving something in return for whatever they put in. It’s all about trust. People need to know that when they click that link or open that email, they’re going to see something that they like, whether it’s content or their target audience.
